What Is Air Treatment?

At API Pneumatic UK, we supply a range of air treatment products. For compressed air or industrial requirements, we provide our own range of air treatment units, from filter regulator lubricators (FRLs) to micro regulators. In addition, our comprehensive air treatment range also includes pressure gauges, soft start valves, mounting accessories and stainless-steel equipment. But what is air treatment, and why is it so important?

Air treatment explained

Pneumatic systems benefit from air treatment to manage and eradicate any factors that can cause damage or reduce performance and efficiency. The moisture levels in the area constantly vary based on myriad factors, such as temperature and pressure. Whenever air is put under pressure, as it will be in any pneumatic system, the moisture in the air can cause problems.

Using an air treatment system will safeguard that system from the damage and corrosion that humidity can cause when compressed. It essentially ‘cleans’ the air, filtering out any contaminants and drying the air to maximise performance. API Pneumatics provides several solutions to complement all kinds of pneumatic systems.

Pneumatic system units and components

Filter Regulator Lubricators (FRLs)

A modular Filter Regulator Lubricator (FRL) for pneumatic systems comprises three essential functions:

–      Filter – Removing contaminants and excess moisture from the air

–      Regulator – Controlling (or indeed regulating!) air pressure in the system

–      Lubricator – delivering controlled amounts of lubrication to keep things running smoothly and safely

Our series of modular FRLs are some of the most unique air treatment units available on the market. Each of our modular FRL units can be distributed as a full set or in individual parts, depending on your system’s needs. We can provide modular airline equipment units in a variety of different sizes that make it easy to replace damaged components or connectors. Micro Regulators

Micro regulators are designed to be used with compressed air, reducing outgoing pressure in a pneumatic system and keeping inlet pressure constant.

We offer two types of reliable micro pressure regulators in multiple sizes as part of our airline equipment range. Our expert team can help you find which one you will need.

Pressure Gauges

An absolutely essential component of any pneumatic system, a pressure gauge will monitor and display the air pressure to the user. They are key to ensuring your system is delivering optimal performance, but also to make sure it is accurate and, crucially, safe.

We supply analogue, digital and vacuum gauges in a variety of sizes to suit any system or budget. They are all compatible with API UK’s other treatment products and units to make up your own bespoke air treatment system. Find out more about what we have to offer here.

Soft Start Valves

An important component for your pneumatic system’s safety and longevity, a modular soft start valve gradually pressurises pneumatic lines when switched on. When switched off, they rapidly exhaust downstream pressure for industrial applications requiring air treatment.

Its purpose is to make sure there is no erroneous force in a pneumatic system by making minor adjustments to the starting position and preventing cylinders from unnecessarily, and potentially dangerously, slamming back into position when air is expelled.

Mounting Accessories and Stainless-Steel Equipment

API UK offers a full range of air treatment accessories and stainless-steel options to provide you with a system that is completely tailor-made for your needs. We have a full range of spare parts, assembly kits and mounting accessories allowing full customisation of almost every component you need.

For systems that operate in harsh environments, we supply air treatment and filtration solutions in stainless steel to give the best protection from corrosion and chemical damage. These stainless steel components ultimately prolong the life and efficiency of the pneumatic system your business relies on.

Protecting your pneumatic systems

Ultimately, the main function of an air treatment system centres around keeping your pneumatic system both safe and efficient at all times. At API UK, our full range of air treatment solutions and accessories will give you the peace of mind that your system is fully taken care of. With sizes to fit any system, digital and analogue options, and materials that will stand up to whatever is thrown at them, you’re in safe hands.

On top of all this, our friendly and knowledgeable team has the expertise to answer any questions you might have and help to guide you towards the right solutions for your business.
