What are the different types of stainless steel valves?

Valves are mechanical devices that control the flow of liquids and gases through tubes and pipes. There are many different types of valves and stainless steel valves are most commonly used in oil refineries, marine projects, and breweries. If you’d like to find out more about control valve types and types of stainless steel valves, continue reading our helpful guide below.

Types of stainless steel valves

Whether you’re looking for ball valves, uni-directional valves or quick exhaust valves, we have a wide range of control valve types that can fit your application. API UK’s ancillary valves are specifically designed for use in the alimentary and chemical fields. Here’s a list of the different types of stainless steel valves available:

  • Full bore ball valves
  • Uni-directional ball valves
  • Miniature ball valves
  • Quick exhaust valves
  • Stainless steel spool valves

Full bore ball valves

All of our manually operated stainless steel ball valves are full bore and are designed with a long lever for easy use. Our API ball stainless steel ball valves are manufactured for use with compressed air, water, steam, inert gases and fluids.

Uni-directional ball valves

Our selection of stainless steel ball valves extends to uni-directional ball valves. The in-line mounting allows air to flow in one direction only. Perfect for applications where no return of compressed air to the supply is admitted.

Miniature ball valves

Another type of stainless steel ball valve available from API UK is our miniature ball valves. They are manually operated and allow air to flow in both directions because they work to open or close the flow.

Quick exhaust valves

Quick exhaust valves increase the speed of a cylinder and are mounted directly onto the port of the cylinder to achieve this.

Stainless steel spool valves

Manufacturing 316 stainless steel spool valves is one of our top specialisms as we aim to grow our stainless steel product range. At API UK, we believe that 316 stainless steel spool valves are vital in combination with cylinders to provide a complete stainless steel solution that does not corrode.

Stainless steel control valve types at API UK

The first type of stainless steel valve available from API is our range of control valves. API’s stainless steel solenoid and pneumatic control valves are part of the AX1 valve series. This particular control valve type is manufactured according to 2014/34/EU and is to be used specifically for explosive environments.

The AX1 range includes:

  • AX1 In-line interface, both pneumatically and electrically operated
  • AX1 Namur interface, electrically operated

The extensive range of AX1 In-ine and Namur interface, electrically operated valves also include:

  • AX1 Non-sparking coil Ex nA
  • AX1 Intrinsic safety Ex ia
  • AX1 Encapsulated coil Ex dm
  • AX1 Flameproof coil Ex db
  • AX1 Encapsulated coil Ex mb

The Namur valve option takes away the need for extra fittings because it is directly mounted onto the actuator. All of our API stainless steel control valves are designed for use with compressed filtered air with or without lubrication.

Because we’re expert stainless steel valve manufacturers, API UK is able to recommend the most suitable, specialised stainless steel control valve types for your application.

For specialised stainless steel valves, look no further than API UK. Our extensive range of valves are manufactured from 316 stainless steel, for the highest corrosion resistance, which is a vital factor in extreme applications. For industries such as oil and gas, chemical, mining and pharmaceutical, 316 stainless steel is necessary to ensure durability, reliability and hygiene. As specialist stainless steel valve manufacturers, we certainly have the solution for you, especially with our 316 stainless steel spool valves!
