Let’s take a whistle-stop tour of the A-Z of pneumatic valves available from us here at API Pneumatic UK. Along the way, we’ll answer some of your burning questions about various types of valves within those categories.

Ancillary Valves

How do slide valves work?

As part of our collection of ancillary valves, API UK offers a range of slide valves. These manually operated valves allow you to close off the air supply and exhaust the downstream circuit air. Slide valves use a sliding mechanism to cover or uncover ports to direct the flow of fluid into its proper channel. API UK stocks a variety of 1/8”,1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2” and M5 slide valves, which are manufactured from nickel plated and ground brass, with a blue anodised aluminium slide.

Ball Valves

What are ball valves used for?

Ball valves are shutoff valves that control the flow of a fluid using a hollow rotating ball as a bore. When the ball rotates a quarter turn or 90 degrees around its axis, this allows the medium to either flow through or blocks its flow path. Combined with a pneumatic actuator, ball valves are commonly used across a wide range of manufacturing environments and heat exchanger applications.

ISO Control Valves

How many types of control valve do you stock?

API UK stocks an extensive array of types and models of pneumatic control valves. We offer ATEX certified ISO 5599/1 control valves, as well as two sizes of ISO control valves: ISO 1 and ISO 2 to suit your specifications. We also supply electrically operated ISO valves with a CNOMO electric pilots or an inline electro pilot. API UK also provides a huge range of manually and mechanically operated pneumatic valves, depending on your needs.

Solenoid Valves

What is a solenoid valve?

A solenoid valve is an electro-mechanical valve that is typically used to control the flow of liquid or gas. The main types of solenoid valves are pilot operated and direct acting. Most commonly used, pilot operated valves, use the system line pressure to open and close the valve’s main orifice, while direct operated solenoids directly open or close the main valve orifice. API UK offers both, including hygienic stainless steel models.
